How to apply
Students who wish to apply for external bursaries, scholarships or loans must apply directly with the companies or organisations offering the funding.
Students who wish to apply for University administered awards and Merit bursaries from CPUT, or NSFAS, must apply at the Financial Aid Office.
Application forms are available from the Financial Aid Offices on the Bellville, Cape Town, Mowbray and Wellington campuses.
Complete and return the application form by the closing dates, along with the necessary supporting documentation.
Application for first-years 2024
Students who have been accepted to CPUT as first time first-year students for 2016 can apply for financial aid up to the last working day of February.
Students who have already received an acceptance letter, can apply now.
Required documentation for financial aid applications
Closing dates for funding which is administered by CPUT
Returning students: last working day of August (for the following year).
Second semester students: last working day of May (for the year in which registered).
First year students: the last working day of February (in the year of first registration).
Important notes
Always adhere to closing dates. Late applications or late submission of documentation will result in forfeiture of financial assistance.
Funding is limited and all qualifying applicants cannot always be assisted – students are advised to apply early and widely for financial aid.
Consult the notice boards in the vicinity of the Financial Aid Office regularly for important and relevant information regarding financial assistance.
Accessing allocated funds
University administered awards, Merit bursaries from CPUT, NSFAS loans, and external bursary and scholarship funds are administered by the Financial Aid Office.
To access allocated funds students can visit or contact the Financial Aid Office.
Loans offered by financial institutions are usually paid directly to the student.
