Course Information and Fees
New qualifications
The new Doctor of Engineering (DEng) has replaced the DTech. The new qualifications ensure that the curriculum offered at CPUT can be directly compared to that of other institutions; not only nationally, but also internationally through the benchmarking process that took place during the development of these new qualifications.
Pipeline DTech students will be able to continue with their DTech, or convert to the new Doctor of Engineering (DEng). For more information go to the “New Qualifications” page on the Engineering website.
Purpose and Rationale of the qualification
This qualification is intended for chemical engineers or technologists working in process related industries. Learners achieving this qualification have the competence to conduct independent research under minimal guidance in the field of chemical engineering, and contribute significantly to knowledge production through the understanding, application and evaluation of existing knowledge. The research problem, its justification, process and outcome is reported in a dissertation which complies with the generally accepted norms for research at that level.
